Torchy’s Tacos Makes its Way to North Austin
I saw the signs being raised today – NORTH of the river. Torchy’s Tacos has become a South Austin favorite and those living near S 1st have come to think of it as their own little South Austin staple. Torchy’s is also one of the popular dining spots in the whole Airstream Restaurant movement with its airstream spot located in the South Austin Trailer Park and Eatery. Recently they expanded to a William Cannon location which is also in South Austin and a UT campus location on Guadalupe.
But as I left my office on Spicewood Springs today I saw a new Torchy’s Taco sign being raised. Just at the intersection of Mesa and Spicewood Springs by the fire house. I checked their website and they haven’t even announced it yet – but photos were being taken so I’m sure it will be up soon.
This is all I know – I have no idea when the new location will open – but you heard it here first folks <insert car salesman>.

by the way – since I posted this Torchy’s has been open for a bit in this area. Its doing great and there is always a crowd – since it’s by my office I eat there frequently – getting in and out of the parking lot at the noon hour is the only issue. There is a second entrance on Mesa just past Subway
